For Coaches - Seattle Public Schools

  • All Fall League coaches are required to be registered as a "Volunteer Athletic Coach".
  • If you have previously registered and been approved as a Volunteer Athletic Coach, then you don't need to register again.
  • All coaches must have a valid Adult First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
This document contains an overview of the requirements necessary to become a Volunteer Athletics Coach (VAC) with Seattle Public School (SPS). The doc is fairly up to date, except the Adult Sexual Misconduct class is now offered online.

What to do with Certifications
Save a PDF of your certifications and then attach them into your governmentjobs.com account profile (this is the online application with SPS mentioned above). If your profile hasn't yet been accepted, I think you can log into it and there should be a section for uploading certifications.

Alternatively, you can email or fax copies of your certifications the Seattle Public Schools Athletic Department. Include your name, and that you have applied to be a Volunteer Athletics Coach for Hamilton International Middle School, Ultimate Frisbee:
How to check if you have been verified and accepted as a Volunteer Athletic Coach
Log into your www.govenmentjobs.com account. Once you're logged in, select your name in the top right corner and in the drop-down, select "Application and Status".  After Volunteer Athletics Coach, it will say "Verifying Certification" (if your application is still pending), or it will say "Clear to Volunteer".

How to get reimbursed
You'll need to pay for the First Aid/CPR/AED certification and the fingerprints. Keep your receipts and scan and email to Julie Brunett (contact Mike to get her email address until I have her permission to use it on the site). HIMS Ultimate Club will reimburse you for these expenses..

If you have any questions with ANY of this, contact MIke Keran. You'll want to get started on this ASAP. It takes SPS some time to get all this into the system, and coaches are not allowed to step on the field with students until all this is received and approved.
